So lets start…..

When you land on the Dashboard after login in the WordPress admin. You see a left menu bar. In this menu you will find a menu item “Pages” just below “Media” menu item. You can either hover over the “Pages” link or click to expand it to display the submenu.

Click the Add New link and you will redirected to a form below where you can create your first page.

The first box is where you will have to enter the title of your Page.

Next is the Page formatting section or called as page editor. This is section where you have to enter/type the content of your page.

If you take a look on the right side of the box, you will see two tabs. There are two modes of editing posts: Visual and Text.

The Visual tab is the tab which brings up the visual WYSIWYG editor. WYSIWYG just means “what you see is what you get.” Here you will see a formatting toolbar with lots of options for formatting your posts. If you are familiar with any of the word processing software like Microsoft Word etc., most of these icons should look familiar and you can use them easily.

Now comes to Text tab, if you click the Text tab, this will show a plain-text HTML version of the page editor. This version of the page editor is for editing the HTML code of your page. If you are familiar with the HTML then only, you will be able to use it perfectly. For most users, the Visual editor is the easiest way to write pages.

The Publish section of the page editor is same as for writing posts. When you have completed the changes and ready to publish your page, you can opt for either publish immediately, save this or a draft, or schedule the page to be published later.

The Page Attributes section have two options
– Parent page where you can set the parent page of your current page. There is no limit to how many levels you can nest pages.
– Template where you can set new template for your current page. From here you can even set different template for every single new page.

Next, Order box gives you flexibility to order your page numerically. Pages are usually ordered alphabetically, but you can choose your own order by entering a number in this field.

Below this section, there is another section named as Featured Image, here in this section you can upload image which will display as featured image at top of the page. By this way you can enhance look and feel of your page.

Preview the page when you finish the changes and Publish your page and you have added a new page to your WordPress site.
