7 Big Mistakes New Affiliate Marketers Make

Friends today i will discuss about the common mistakes which an affiliate marketer does. After lots of efforts and experience i found some mistake which i also did while affiliate marketing. And i want to share my experience with you so that you can avoid these mistakes and can successfully earn money from affiliate marketing.

1) Selling a Product Rather Than Helping People

As the word Marketing comes with the phrase “Affiliate Marketing”, first thing which strike in our mind is to “Sell” the product. But my dear friends, affiliate marketing is not about to sell a product but to help people to know about the product. You can tell people about the product and then customer decide whether he/she has to buy the product or not..

When people start Affiliate Marketing, they often fill their pages with words and links that screamed “BUY NOW”. And this is the very common mistake they do.

They don’t help the reader to know why they should buy this product. They just want people to click a link which would hopefully lead to a commission.

Conclusion: Rather that force people to buy product you should convince them to BUY, by providing proper information.

2) Not Testing

As in last point, i told you that you should convince customers to BUY your product. Even a marketer does know enough about the product. This is another mistake commonly happens.

You should get the knowledge about the product before listing the link on your page and should test the product. But only after proper testing of product you can tell other people about the product.

Conclusion: You should test the product before asking other people to BUY them.

3) Not Comparing The Products

One of the best marketing strategy is to compare 2 or more product when it comes about physical product. You should follow same strategy when its about online selling products. By comparing the 2 or 3 products, you not only help your readers make a choice, but you also have your affiliate links there for THREE products instead on only one.

Over the time you can track the page and you will be able to see which product is most interesting to the readers and move the best converting product to the top the page for better conversion.

Comparison products are not only very popular and helpful for readers, they are also very profitable for you.

Conclusion: Always provide comparison of 2 or 3 products of same niche.

4) Too Many

This is another big mistake new marketer made when starts affiliate marketing. They tried to join any and every affiliate program came across. This is not a great strategy but good to confuse. There will come a point when you will have too much to deal with and it will become unmanageable.

Conclusion: Choose your affiliate programs wisely and don’t overload yourself.

5) No focus on Content and Targeted traffic

To get success in Affiliate Marketing, you need to concentrate on 2 common points

– Quality content
– Targeted Traffic

As a blogger and an affiliate marketer, above points matters more than anything else.

Yet, so many bloggers concentrate on things like design and the colors and size of fonts. This is good but not enough to be successful in affiliate marketing. You should also concentrate on quality content and relevant search engine traffic and it should be your highest priority.

There is no point in having the best theme and being hosted on the most robust server on planet earth, if you don’t have content that attracts readers who then subscribe to your list.

Conclusion: Try to provide quality content to your readers.

6) No focus on promoting products with recurring payments and commissions

It always great to have recurring payment rather than one time payment. Isn’t it?

You always have a choice of promoting a One Time Payment product or a product that requires a recurring payment e.g. Software or membership etc. Of course you should have a mixture of both but whenever possible you should opt for promoting recurring payments that pay commissions for the life time of the recurring payment.

To earn recurring payment.

Identify and analyze membership sites in your niche that have affiliate programs and focus on promoting them to your audience. There are many software and hosting provider who pay out recurring commissions.

Conclusion: Your focus should be on recurring payments.

7) No Investment In The Required Tools

There is no business on earth, you can successfully run online without having right tools. For who want to succeed in affiliate marketing, there are a couple of tools you must have to positively affect your sales. Below are some of them-

– Premium and Fast web.
– Professional and Fast loading theme.
– Popup Domination
– SEO tools – e.g Yoast.

And the most important-

You should keep yourself up to-date. Technology, SEO and Social Media are changing all the time. And it is sure and you should also accept that what is working right now, definitely not works after 6 months later.

Conclusion: Always try to learn new things which are necessary to grow your sale.
